Collagen for skin

Short answer Some trials have found that daily collagen peptides modestly improve skin hydration and elasticity after two to three months. The evidence is not strong enough for an authorised health claim, so treat it as a possible, modest benefit.
What trials have measured
Skin elasticity, hydration and wrinkle depth, usually by instrument, over eight to twelve weeks. Several found small improvements against placebo. Limits include small groups, short follow-up and industry funding.
What a product may claim in Britain
Not that collagen reduces wrinkles. It may carry authorised claims for nutrients it contains at the right level: vitamin C contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of skin; zinc contributes to the maintenance of normal skin; biotin contributes to the maintenance of normal skin.
What else matters for skin
Sun protection does more for skin ageing than any supplement. Not smoking, enough sleep and a diet with fruit, vegetables and protein all count. A supplement comes after those.
If you want to try one
Choose a product with a stated dose of collagen peptides and vitamin C, take it daily for three months, and judge honestly. Oriflame's Beauty Collagen Complex fits that description. For hair and nails see hair, skin and nail supplements.
